This privacy notice explains how First Media Solutions Ltd (“we”) collect and use your information when you use Edazoo and our related services.
We follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This means we must use your information fairly, keep it safe, and be clear about what we do with it.
Who we are
Edazoo (previously known as eProspectus) is provided by First Media Solutions Ltd. Sometimes we are responsible for your information (data controller). This is when you use our services directly. Other times, your school, college, or local authority is responsible, and we act on their behalf (data processor). This means they decide how your information is used.

Important update (eProspectus and U-Explore services)
You may have previously known this service as eProspectus. It is now called Edazoo, but it works in a very similar way. Some parts of Edazoo were also previously provided by U-Explore. These services are now part of Edazoo.
This means we may use information that was originally collected when the service was called eProspectus or when it was provided by U-Explore. We will continue to keep your information safe and use it in line with data protection laws.
How we collect your information
We collect your information in a few different ways:
- Information you give us (for example, when you create an account, apply for courses, or contact us)
- Information from your school or college (for example, to help you apply for courses or track your progress)
- Information from how you use Edazoo (for example, pages you visit and features you use).
What you can do on Edazoo
You can use Edazoo to:
- Apply for courses (e.g. using the Common Application Process – CAP)
- Create and download your CV
- Complete an Employability Skills Passport
- Explore careers, courses, and opportunities
- Explore on demand virtual work experience and employer insight opportunities
- Explore work experience opportunities within your area
You can browse some parts of the site without an account, but you will need one to use certain features.
What information we use
We may use the following types of information:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Address
- School or college
- Unique learner numbers (e.g. UPN or ULN)
- Contact details (email, phone number)
- Parent or Carer details (name, address, email, phone number)
- Account details (username, login details)
- Information about your progress and activities
- Background information such as gender or ethnicity
- Learning support or health-related information (where needed to support you).
Why we use your information
We only use your information when the law allows us to. This includes:
- To provide and manage the service
- To help you apply for courses and opportunities
- To support you
- To communicate with you
- To improve our services

- Education and training providers you apply to
- Organisations that support education and careers services
- Government bodies (like the Department for Education or Ofsted), where required
We may also share information with trusted companies who help us run our services.
Sometimes we share combined (anonymous) data for research and reporting. This does not identify you.
Keeping your information safe
We take security seriously and use appropriate measures to protect your information.
We also expect you to keep your login details safe and not share your password with anyone.
If someone misuses the website (for example by posting harmful or inappropriate content), we may use available information to investigate and take action, including informing your school or relevant authorities if needed.
Links to other websites
Edazoo may contain links to other websites. These sites have their own privacy notices, and we are not responsible for how they use your information.
Marketing
We may send you emails about services, opportunities, or useful information:
- If you have given your permission, or
- You are an existing customer.
You can ask to stop receiving these emails at any time.
How long we keep your information
We only keep your information for as long as we need it. This depends on how you use the service and any legal requirements.
For regular student accounts we remove your data at the end of August in the year you turn 19 unless you convert your account to an adult account.
For SEND accounts we remove your data at the end of August in the year you turn 25 unless you convert your account to an adult account.
For adults we remove your data after 18 months of your account being inactive.
Your rights
You have rights over your information, including asking us:
- To see your information
- To correct it
- To delete it (in some cases)
- To limit using it in certain ways
- To stop using it in certain ways
- To transfer your information to another organisation
We don’t use automated decision making which is where computers are used to make important decisions about you without human involvement.

You can also make a complaint to us if you are unhappy. If we don’t resolve your complaint in a way you would like, you can make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
